I was there when Tom hit Mrtyle. She kind of deserved it since she's cheating on her husband but that's still not a nice thing to do on Tom's part. It sort of upsets me that Tom is cheating on my cousin but if she doesn't know, that's her problem. It's not like he's really making it that big of a secret.

Nick's Thoughts
I'm very impartial. No one really stand out in my mind. Gatsby may be wealthy, but there's nothing impressive about him as a person. I know he's using me to get to Daisy, so he isn't that great. Daisy also isn't very impressive since she puts up with Tom and we all know he's a jerk. He's cheating on her with a woman who isn't close to her in looks. Tom is the biggest jerk I've met. He's cheating on Daisy and then he punched his mistress in Mrtyle. Mrtyle is also kind of stuck up. She has nothing. She's married to a poor man and having an affair with a terrible man. None of this really bothers me though. It's none of my business. I don't care too much. I just want to worry about myself. However, I do like Jordan. She's doing something with her life. She did well in the golf tournament and she's liked by basically everyone.

This Land Is Your Land
He really likes America. He said "golden valley" among other things by describing the country with lots of admiration. His meassage is that we all belong in this country. I agree with his message because America is supposed to be the "melting pot" where diversity is encouraged. America is the land of opportunity so everyone belongs here and everyone is on an equal playing field to do whatever they want with their lives.

60s commercials
Corn Flakes
Pathos-"Won't wilt when you pour on milk". Makes people happy because they hate when cereal wilts because of milk.
Argumentum ad populum- "Buy it to make it right". Buying General Mills doesn't necesarily make it right. It's not a fact.
Alka-Seltzer
Pathos- There were people dancing, and dancing is associated with happiness.
Argument from omniscience- "It's better than anything you can get without a perscription. ANYTHING." Saying it as though it's an absolute fact.
Delk
Logos- "Takes only minutes, only $600." It makes sense that you would go there because it's quick and cheap.

Chain Gang
The message of the song is Don't Throw Your Life Away. I know this because the narrator says, "I hear them moanin' their lives away", this shows that they have nothing to look forward to. They won't ever be able to do anything except the labor. He also mentions that the prisoners mention not being able to see their women. They can't see the person they love most. This shows to other people to be careful because if they do something wrong, they could end up like the chain gang and have nothing to look forward to and won't be able to see their lover.

Culture
Culture is a multitude of social customs passed on through generations. The way people live is their culture. This includes their language, dialect, clothing, food, religion, holidays, etc. Culture is extrinsic. It is taught to us by our parents and our society. This is how it is passed on through generations. Examples of Kentucky culture is that we have slight country accents and we mostly like bluegrass music. Kentucky is famous for thoroughbred breeding and racing, coal mining, and bourban. Basketball is also a big part of everyone's lives.
